Self-taught African Teen Wows M.I.T.
15-Year-Old Kelvin Doe is an engineering whiz living in Sierra Leone who scours the trash bins for spare parts, which he uses to build batteries, generators and transmitters. Completely self-taught, Kelvin has created his own radio station where he broadcasts news and plays music under the moniker, DJ Focus.
Kelvin became the youngest person in history to be invited to the “Visiting Practitioner’s Program” at MIT. THNKR had exclusive access to Kelvin and his life-changing journey – experiencing the US for the first time, exploring incredible opportunities, contending with homesickness, and mapping out his future.

It's amazing.T he human mind left alone ( with out society's contaminating ideologies ) knows only love and creativity.
Nov 30, 2012 @ 01:48:55
But of course those contaminating ideologies come from the violence of carnivoric nature itself!
It is interesting how the nature of an infant is NOT the same as the nature out in the woods.
The "nature" of trees, wolves, and deer will change the nature we are born with.
Almost as if nature itself has two faces!
Thankfully we as a species have recently become advanced enough to support that initial, first nature we are born with.

There could be "innovator of the year" awards. Based on solution problems solving using materials and technology that is as much as possible "found" on hand/locally. No limit to the number of awards/people who win. Awards go to the innovator/inventor, their community, the community schools, building community support for the innovator/inventor. Add to this scholarships.

I see his inspiration and drive to help and improve his family's situation and life. how about programs to inspire american youth in the same way? an adopt a family program or something for school children in the US… "here is a family in __________, here is what their life is like, what can we invent to help them that they can build and use in their community?"
Mar 25, 2013 @ 15:05:39
Well… there's my inspiration for the day. Amazing.
